Pima County Invites Public Input on New Environmental Equity Plans, Ensuring Inclusive Community Engagement

A draft of the Public Participation Plan, which aims to improve public involvement and guarantee compliance with civil rights laws in its operations, has been made public by the Pima County Department of Environmental Quality (PDEQ). The Disability Access Plan and the Language Access Plan are two related documents that the PDEQ is also looking for input on in addition to the main plan.

The public comment period will remain available until December 16, 2024, having begun on November 14, 2024. To ensure a cooperative, inclusive approach, community members are invited to review and offer their insights. The documents, which are available for language translation and are compatible with reader accessibility software, are available for public inspection on the Public Participation Project webpage.

Hard copies are available at the PDEQ downtown office and at the local Pima County Libraries upon request. PDEQ is working to ensure that information is widely available to all members of the community.

Residents can contact PDEQ’s Civil Rights Coordinator by phone at 520-724-7400 or by email at [email protected] if they have any more concerns about the plans or the input process. It is also possible for people to come or write directly to the PDEQ office at 33 N. Stone Ave, 7th Floor, Tucson, Arizona, 85701.
