Yesterday, Pittsburgh police were called to the scene of a shooting in East Hills that left a teenage male with a nonfatal injury. According to the

public safety blotter, the incident occurred in the 2300 block of Wilner Drive following an alert from ShotSpotter technology, which detected seven rounds just after 2:45 a.m.

While responding, dispatchers informed police officers of a male with a gunshot wound, subsequently discovered when they arrived. Found was the victim, a 16-year-old male with a gunshot injury to his leg, and he was transported by EMS to a local hospital in stable condition. Having responded to process evidence at the scene, the Mobile Crime Unit took charge.

There have been no arrests at the current stage of the investigation, and detectives remain on the case, seeking to piece together the events that transpired. Witnesses at the scene have provided descriptions suggesting that an altercation involving the victim may have preceded the shooting.

The investigation is still in its early stages, and authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward. The teen’s identity has not been released to protect privacy and the investigation.
