KNOX, Indi. (DDN) – On Thursday, a Knoxville man was arrested and charged with eleven counts.
This occurred at approximately 10:55 p.m. at an address near the 3000 South block of US Highway 35.
Deputies from the Starke County Sheriff’s Office responded to the home after doing a warrant check on Clyde Malecki, 64, who had a felony warrant.
Malecki originally greeted the police at the front door, but when they explained why they were there, he attempted to shut the door in their faces.
He stood in the doorway, refusing to leave the house and violently pulling away. The deputies put him in handcuffs.
Deputies removed a gun from the back of Malecki’s jeans, where he had previously reached.
A search warrant was eventually secured for the residence.
Officers discovered 35.76 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 3.61 grams of suspected heroin/fentanyl, other illicit narcotics, narcotic packaging equipment, and other narcotic paraphernalia equipment.
Clyde Malecki was transported to the Starke County Justice Center and arrested on preliminary accusations of:
- Dealing Methamphetamine, Level 2 Felony
- Possession of Methamphetamine, Level 3 Felony
- Dealing a Narcotic Drug, Level 3 Felony
- Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon, Level 4 Felony
- Possession of a Narcotic Drug, Level 5 Felony
- Possession of a Syringe, Level 6 Felony
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance, Level 6 Felony
- Possession of a Schedule 4 Controlled Substance, Level 6 Felony
- Resisting Law Enforcement, Class A Misdemeanor
- Possession of Marijuana, Class B Misdemeanor
- Possession of Paraphernalia, Class C Misdemeanor

All subjects are deemed innocent unless proven guilty. Formal charges will be determined by the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office.
