Pompey Car Accident Claims Life of 15-Year-Old, Leaves Sister Fighting for Life

POMPEY, New York (DDN) – Gavin Myers, 15, a student at Fabius-Pompey, was slain this morning, Jan. 30, while riding as a passenger in the automobile with his sister.

Around 7:47 a.m., State Police from LaFayette were dispatched to State Route 91 in the County of Pompey for a two-vehicle accident.

According to authorities, 17-year-old Gia Myers of Jamesville was driving a 2010 Hyundai Accent southbound on State Route 91 when she lost control of the vehicle due to icy conditions.

This forced her to enter the other lane and collide with a 2022 Chevy Tahoe driven by a 37-year-old from Fabius.

Police confirm that Gavin was declared deceased on the spot. Gia is now being treated at Upstate Hospital in critical condition.

The siblings are students in the Fabius-Pompey School District.

The district announced on Facebook that all after-school events have been canceled for January 30.
