A Porter resident has been sentenced to 40 years in federal prison for producing and distributing child sexual abuse material, as announced by U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani. stated: “During the hearing, the court learned how deeply and terribly this crime has affected the minor victim who suffered sexual abuse from Ohlsen.” The abuse not only involved physical violation but also digital proliferation, ensuring lasting trauma. Restitution to the victim remains pending. Judge Eskridge mandated lifelong supervised release following Ohlsen’s imprisonment. He is also required to comply with strict conditions that severely limit his access to both children and the internet, and he must register as a sex offender.

The chain of events leading to Ohlsen’s sentencing began with authorities uncovering his distribution of child pornography using a Russian image hosting website in 2022, the investigation brought forth by Homeland Security Investigations with aid given by the Queensland Police Service unearthed evidence of Ohlsen’s direct abuse of a minor and his sharing of the abuse images on an undisclosed platform. Following a search warrant at Ohlsen’s residence, he admitted to both the abuse and the distribution of the material, the search resulted in conclusive evidence corroborating his confession.
