Portland Braces for a Soaked Week as NWS Predicts Persistent Rainfall

Bring your rain boots and umbrellas, Portlanders. Rain and showers are expected to be Portland’s near-constant companions for the next few days, according to the city’s National Weather Service forecast. With a predicted high of 53 degrees and east winds moving south in the afternoon, the NWS predicts a 70% chance of showers today, mostly before 2 p.m.

The east-northwest wind is expected to reach 9 to 11 mph tonight, and rain is expected to arrive after 8 p.m. with a low of about 47 degrees. According to the NWS, there is a 100% probability of precipitation, with new precipitation quantities ranging from half to three-quarters of an inch. With a high of about 56 degrees and a south wind of 11 to 16 mph with gusts up to 30 mph, Portlanders should brace themselves for a gusty Friday. It is anticipated that the rain will continue to fall without stopping.

The forecast for the weekend is not much better. There will be further showers on Saturday, with a high of around 51 degrees and south winds of 7 to 9 miles per hour. On Sunday, there will likely be showers before 4 p.m., followed by rain, with generally overcast sky and highs of about 51 °F. It’s unlikely that the clouds will lift before the following workweek begins. More showers and a high of almost 49 are forecast for Monday.

Monday night is expected to be cloudy with lows of about 41 degrees with showers, mostly before 10 p.m. With only a chance of showers and temperatures hovering around 50 degrees, Tuesday and Wednesday might provide a small reprieve for those hoping for a change in the weather. As the city moves further into the fall season, it is evident that Portland’s immediate future is one of water, with some level of rainfall expected for several days.
