Portland Police Arrest 35-Year-Old Man Suspected of Stabbing in Northwest District

A stabbing in Portland’s Northwest District has led to the arrest of a 35-year-old man. According to the

, the incident occurred yesterday afternoon, and the suspect was apprehended soon after.

Officers from the Central Precinct were dispatched to the 2300 block of Northwest Flanders Street, following a report of the stabbing at around 3:15 p.m. Upon their arrival, the police provided immediate aid to the victim, who, later was transported to a local hospital for serious injuries. A description of the assailant allowed officers to quickly locate, and apprehend the suspect at the intersection of Northwest Flander Street and Northwest Westover Road.

Investigators from the Major Crimes Unit have taken over the case, signaling the gravity of the assault. The suspect in question, Zachary Kelso, is currently being held at the Multnomah County Detention Center. He faces two counts of Assault in the First Degree, marking a swift response from local law enforcement to the violent episode.
