The Rancho Cordova Police Department recently took to social media to report the recovery of a stolen semi-truck trailer in the vicinity of Sunrise Blvd. and Jackson Road. According to the
Rancho Cordova PD’s Facebook page
, the vehicle, originally stolen out of Nevada, was tracked by the owner using GPS, which allowed the officers to locate a trailer matching the description provided.
Upon arrival and further investigation by the RCPD, the semi-truck trailer was found without license plates and bearing a fraudulent VIN. Also discovered were fraudulent Oklahoma DMV paperwork and attempted concealment of the trucking company’s identity—evidenced by the remnants of peeled-off logo stickers. The scenario, with several false Department of Transportation (DOT) door magnets found inside the cab, was suggestive of a broader narrative involving identity deception.
The police apprehended the driver, who was unable to produce any commercial log book information for the truck or the trailer. They found his acquisition story to be suspicious and were unable to obtain from him credible details of his supervisor or company. A search of his personal belongings yielded $4,502 in cash, which the officers seized based on suspicions of the money being tied to illegal activities. The cash was subsequently booked as evidence.
Taken into custody, the driver now faces charges for possession of a stolen vehicle and a probation violation. The Rancho Cordova PD has since forwarded the details of the case, including information on the semi-truck, trailer, and documents, to a regional auto theft task force team for further investigation into potentially related incidents.
The
Rancho Cordova Police Department
highlighted this incident as an exemplification of their commitment to their community. They stated, “This was yet another example of RCPD providing stellar service and commitment to their community, by ensuring criminal actions, regardless of where they originally occurred, are handled to the fullest extent possible!” This sentiment echoes the department’s ongoing efforts to facilitate an environment of safety and justice for their residents.
