Redwood City Store Attendant Accidentally Shoots Himself Following Attempted Robbery

On Wednesday, the Redwood City Police Department was called to a strange scene on the 800 Block of Woodside Road, where a store employee unintentionally shot himself during an attempted larceny. Around 6:00 PM, four people with sledgehammers tried to rob a nearby business, according to the Redwood City Police Department.

The shopkeeper, defending the business, pulled out a lawfully owned gun and confronted the trespassers, who then took off in an unidentified automobile. About an hour later, the attendant accidentally injured him by placing the gun in his pocket. He was hit in the leg by the gun’s firing as he was holding some objects.

First assistance was given by officers who arrived on the spot. After being transported to a nearby hospital, the store employee’s injuries were deemed non-life-threatening.
