Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit Sets Dates for 2021

The Rocket Mortgage Classic and PGA Tour have announced the dates for the 2021 tournament, the third edition of Motor City’s only PGA event.
Bryson DeChambeau will defend his 2020 Rocket Mortgage Classic Championship from June 28 to July 4 at the historic Detroit Golf Club.
The event will continue to focus on raising funds in support of the “Change Of Course” initiative launched in 2020 amid the impact of COVID-19 on Detroit and the need for greater and fairer digital connectivity in America’s least connected metropolis was launched.
The multi-year campaign vision is to ensure that every Detroit resident has access to the internet, technology and digital literacy training within 10 minutes’ walk of their home.
“We’re creating the must-see event of the PGA Tour in 2021 by leveraging the incredible momentum that has emerged from the first two years of the Rocket Mortgage Classic,” said Jason Langwell, Executive Director of the Rocket Mortgage Classic. “Bringing 156 of the world’s top golfers to Detroit over the weekend of July 4th has proven to be a great way to celebrate the holiday, especially given that we continue to make a positive impact on one of the big cities through our change efforts our country have the course. “
During the 2020 Rocket Mortgage Classic, $ 1.4 million was raised to help change course through a special exhibition game hosted by two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson and the Area 313 Challenge, in donations from title sponsor Rocket Mortgage was triggered by players who hit an eagle, an ace or a birdie (3-1-3) at holes 14, 15 and 16.
The event’s total contribution to charitable partners, including net proceeds from the 2020 tournament, will be announced in the coming weeks and is expected to exceed the amount generated in 2019.

Almost every third family currently does not have sufficient connectivity. That is why we will continue to use this unique platform as a vehicle forever.”
After telling Nate Lashley to a six-stroke win and his first career PGA Tour win at the 2019 Rocket Mortgage Classic, Bryson DeChambeau sought to win the 2020 tournament by 23 under par. DeChambeau took his sixth career victory at the age of 26 and was sixth in the world with an average driving distance of 350.6 meters.
The 2020 Rocket Mortgage Classic was one of the PGA Tour’s Return to Golf events, played without fans after a nearly three-month hiatus due to the ongoing pandemic.
