Rollover Accident on Interstate 495 in Middleborough Causes Early Morning Traffic Delays

The Middleborough Fire Department received a complaint about a rolled-over dump truck on Interstate 495 early on Friday morning. The incident happened northbound, just south of Exit 12, at approximately 5:12 a.m., according to a statement that John Guilfoil Public Relations was able to get. In the right and breakdown lanes, the firefighters discovered a 10-wheel dump truck pulling a trailer with two asphalt rollers on its side.

Thankfully, there were no injuries to the driver, who was the only occupant. According to NBC Boston, the rollover resulted in a significant restriction of the right and breakdown lanes during the early commute since the overturned trucks spilled eight to nine liters of coolant and oil onto the roadway. As soon as possible, steps were taken to clean up the leak and deal with any possible environmental issues.

Frank Corporation Environmental Services and Big Wheel Towing and Recovery cleanup workers were quickly dispatched. In addition, the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection sent a delegate to assist. To conduct an investigation, state officials were present, including the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section and officers of the Massachusetts State Police.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) confirmed that all lanes had been reopened at little before 9:40 a.m. The accident’s interruption was reduced by MassDOT’s and other agencies’ prompt action. The State Police are currently conducting an investigation to determine what caused the collision.
