Residents of Elkridge, be ready for construction to begin along Roosevelt Boulevard in early December. This is a component of a Howard County project to enhance local pedestrian connectivity and safety.

The project, which is valued at $14.7 million in the Fiscal Year 2025 Capital Budget for bike lanes, sidewalks, and other infrastructure, intends to construct a sidewalk on the east side of Roosevelt Boulevard between Cemetery Lane and Business Parkway, according to a Howard County statement. Calvin Ball, the executive of Howard County, said, “Sidewalks create neighborhood connections and provide our residents safe and healthy transportation options,” emphasizing the value of such projects for the community.

The WalkHoward Pedestrian Master Plan, which aims to improve pedestrian access along the US 1 corridor, includes this endeavor as a major element. Along with installing sidewalks, the project also included installing curbs and gutters, making small drainage upgrades, and modifying driveway entrances to make them more accessible.

During construction hours, which are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., drivers will observe changes as flaggers control traffic by closing one eastbound lane.
