The Round Rock Police Department is serving up a slice of police work for the community members interested in learning about law enforcement from the inside out, by announcing the opening of enrollment for its Citizens Police Academy. Scheduled to start on Feb. 4, this 12-week course is designed to provide an educational look at the various facets of police operations.

Participants who enroll will get a chance to dive into the everyday experiences of police officers, including patrol routines and SWAT team demonstrations. Announced to be hosted at the department’s Main Training Room located at 2701 N. Mays St., the classes are set every Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., as mentioned in an

What appears to be an engaging experience is not just limited to the immediate curriculum. Graduates from this program are invited to further their involvement in community activities. The department offers them additional training and various volunteer opportunities, such as Citizens on Patrol. Furthermore, they become eligible for membership in the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (CPAAA).

For those interested in this unique community interface with law enforcement, reservations for spots in the upcoming session are now open. The announcement emphasized the limited nature of these spots, pushing for timely sign-ups.
