Boston police have taken a suspect into custody following a shots fired incident in Roxbury, with the arrest shedding light on a broader concerns about gun violence in the area. Yesterday morning, officers of the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested 31-year-old Demetrius Aaron of Roxbury in Quincy after an investigation led them to recover a firearm, later identified as a Taurus G2C equipped with a round in the chamber, and nine rounds in the magazine,Boston Police Departmentreports.

At the time of his arrest, Aaron was wanted on multiple firearms-related charges, including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Carrying a Loaded Firearm. Additionally, he faced counts for Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling, amongst others, He is expected to face these charges at his arraignment in Roxbury District Court.

The events leading up to Aaron’s arrest date back to earlier in November. On the evening of November 6, officers responded to reports of gunfire at 26 Annunciation Road in the Roxbury neighborhood. While no injuries were reported at the scene, police found ballistic evidence indicating gunfire, yet the suspect had eluded authorities until the recent arrest.
