TROY, Mich. (DDN) – A man from Royal Oak was taken into custody by the Troy police department for driving under the influence of alcohol after he was discovered slumped over the wheel of a brand-new truck that had sustained significant damage from an accident.
On the morning of Thursday, February 6, 2018, officers were dispatched to 4555 Investment Drive, which is located close to Crooks and Long Lake, in order to do a welfare check on a driver who was parked in the parking lot.
The driver of a 2025 GMC Sierra was apparently slumped over the wheel of the vehicle when it was parked in the parking lot with its hazard lights off.
It was observed by the officers who were present at the incident that the driver’s speech was slurred, and the truck had an odor that was reminiscent of alcohol. In addition, the vehicle had two tires that were flat and suffered significant damage from the collision.

It was requested that the driver do a number of sobriety tests, and the officers observed that he performed poorly on all of them. When asked to submit to a preliminary breath test, he declined.
A man from Royal Oak, Michigan, who was 37 years old and driving the vehicle was taken into custody and transported to the Troy Police Lock-Up Facility.
