In remembrance of Jonathan “Mohawk” Hamilton, a 43-year-old cyclist who was cruelly struck and killed last Friday morning while riding his bike to work, the people of Rutherford County are uniting. Hamilton was riding his bike on Old Nashville Highway close to Creekmont Drive when he was struck by a car at approximately 6:17 a.m., according to WSMV.
Additional injuries were sustained by the drivers after two other vehicles struck Hamilton’s bicycle, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol. No charges have been brought in relation to the collision as the inquiry is still ongoing. According to WKRN, a “Mohawk Afterlife Party” is scheduled for November 24 at the Front Street Pub in Smyrna, where Hamilton frequently attended.

People wanted to see him because he was the light. Donations in Hamilton’s honor are now encouraged by his family to be sent to Bike Friendly Atlanta, a nonprofit organization that promotes safer riding conditions. According to comments made by NewsChannel5, Jake Leroy, a close friend of Hamilton’s for more than 20 years, advised drivers to “take care of each other” and “be aware of your surroundings when you’re driving.”
