The City of Sacramento has released its weekly progress report for the response to homelessness, detailing actions taken by the city’s Incident Management Team (IMT) from October 28 to November 3. According to an update from the
Sacramento City Express
, during this period, the city received 748 calls to its 311 customer service related to the unsheltered population.
The IMT managed to quickly close 575 of those calls, indicating either resolution, compliance, or the disappearance of the issue upon inspection. The work of the city’s Department of Community Response notably enrolled 59 people into databases designed to swiftly match them with shelters and resources. In an effort to even more aggressively tackle the burgeoning issue, 17 individuals were moved into the Roseville Road campus, or the Outreach and Engagement Center. Meanwhile, the city continues to struggle with limited availability, citing zero Pallet homes and trailers at the Roseville Road campus, with only four spaces available at the Outreach and Engagement Center.
When addressing concerns about cleanliness and waste, the report highlighted the removal of an astonishing 149,040 pounds of trash from the city’s streets, a silent testament to the less-visible aspects of the homelessness crisis. The city’s data dashboard, available to the public, tracks progress made by the IMT, providing weekly updates dating back to September 2023, and includes cumulative tallies for outreach, compliance, and cleanup efforts.
