Saint Paul Invites Public Input on Allocation of $8M in Federal Funding for Future City Projects

Residents of Saint Paul now have the opportunity to influence how their city spends millions in federal funding over the next five years. The city is currently soliciting public feedback for its 2025-2029 Consolidated Plan, which will guide investment decisions in vital areas such as housing, economic development, and public services.

The annual allocation of around $8 million Saint Paul receives from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is at stake. Community members are encouraged to weigh in through a survey to help identify local priorities, ensuring these funds are used effectively to bolster neighborhoods and support those in need of affordable housing and other critical developments.

In an effort to outline a blueprint that reflects the diverse needs of its constituents, the city is making the survey available in multiple languages, including English, Hmong, Karen, Spanish, and Somali. By promoting inclusivity, the city hopes to gather a wide range of perspectives and engage with residents who might otherwise be left out of such decision-making processes.

The survey can be accessed through the Engage Saint Paul website and will remain open until December 31, 2024. For individuals uncertain on how to participate, or those with specific enquiries regarding the Consolidated Plan, the city has provided an email address,[email protected], to field questions. More information on the overall process is also available atengagestpaul.org/conplan.

With the deadline for survey submissions fast approaching, city officials are eagerly awaiting input from the community. Their aim is to draft a Consolidated Plan that accurately reflects the aspirations and concerns of Saint Paul’s residents.
