Residents in Salt Lake City should be prepared for a wintry mix over the coming days, with the National Weather Service predicting a likely chance of snow today, primarily before 2 p.m. According to theNational Weather Service, the temperature is expected to peak at around 42 degrees Fahrenheit with an east-southeast breeze turning west-northwest in the morning.

The prediction is for a 70 percent chance of precipitation, with possible daytime snow accumulation of less than half an inch. As the evening approaches, the snowfall is expected to continue, albeit with a lesser probability of 40 percent, stretching mainly between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., and temperatures dipping to a low of around 23 degrees. New snow accumulation could amount to around an inch.

Heading into Tuesday, the likelihood of snow diminishes significantly, with only a 20 percent chance before 8 a.m. Despite the chill, the day should clear up to mostly sunny skies, as temperatures are forecasted to climb only to a high near 38. Light, variable winds are anticipated throughout the day.

For those looking ahead, Wednesday marks a temperature rise, with a high near 49 under partly sunny skies. Southeast winds around 7 mph contribute to what should be a mild middle of the week. The night, however, will bring more clouds and a low of around 34 degrees.

Looking towards the latter part of the week, dry conditions with warmer temperatures take hold. Thursday and Friday’s forecasts suggest mostly sunny days with highs in the mid-50s, and partly cloudy evenings with temperatures in the mid to high-30s. The weekend may bring a slight change, as there’s a chance of showers through Saturday and Sunday, per the weather service’s latest update.
