The San Antonio Spurs have released their 2024–2025 NBA City Edition uniforms, which are based on the city’s history, especially the time after the 1968 World’s Fair when things changed a lot. This time, the threads are heavily influenced by the 1970s, a time when many important cultural changes happened that changed San Antonio and the world. KSAT says the design has a “crystal blue” base that looks like men’s leisure suits that were popular in the 1970s, “San Antonio” written across the chest, and a checkered pattern along the sides that looks like the Tower of Americas logo, which is a famous symbol of the city’s skyline.
Becky Kimbro, Senior Vice President of Brand Engagement for Spurs Sports & Entertainment, talked about the history of the city and the uniforms. She said, “This season’s NBA City Edition uniforms mark the next chapter in San Antonio’s coming-of-age as pivotal cultural shifts in the 1970s moved the city forward,” as reported by NBA.com. The Spurs’ dedication to telling stories through clothing continues; the same report also said that the iconic “Viva Spurs” slogan will be on the court and on each jersey’s tag.
Besides the jersey, there is now a full retail line as well. The Official Spurs Fan Shop at The Rock at La Cantera, the Spurs Fan Shop at the Frost Bank Center, and SpursFanShop.com are all places where fans can find it. The collection will be shown for the first time next Thursday when the Spurs play the Utah Jazz. A short film advertising the launch that stars Spurs forward Victor Wembanyama has also been getting a lot of attention. KSAT says that in a scene where he is thinking, he asks, “This jersey isn’t mine, it’s yours. Is it okay if I borrow it for a while?”
It’s time for the City Nights, which are being supported by Michelob ULTRA. The Spurs will wear the shirts in ten games next season. The first game is on November 21 against the Utah Jazz, and the last game is on March 30 against the Golden State Warriors. The Los Angeles Lakers on November 27 and the Philadelphia 76ers on March 21 are two important games. Fans can text 210-444-5940 or go to Spurs.com/CityEdition for more information.
