San Francisco Police Respond to Dog Attack, Officer Shoots Aggressive Canine to Rescue Pedestrian

San Francisco Police officers found themselves in a harrowing situation in Ellis and Fillmore Streets yesterday morning when they were called to a scene of domestic animals in distress. According to theSan Francisco Police Department’s release, officers responded to a report of three dogs allegedly attacking another dog around 10:50 a.m. Upon arrival, they encountered one of the dogs attacking a pedestrian instead.

The incident rapidly escalated, leading to an officer discharging their weapon, resulting in the death of one of the attacking dogs. Following this, a second dog was safely secured with help from Animal Care and Control (ACC), while a chase unfolded as officers pursued the third dog on foot. Through these exertions, the runaway canine was eventually subdued and safely contained with ACC’s assistance.

The aftermath of this encounter left a pedestrian with severe but non-life-threatening injuries, necessitating transportation to a local hospital. The owner of the dog initially under attack sought veterinary aid for their pet, although details on its condition remain sparse.
