San José Hit-and-Run Escalates to 27th Homicide of the Year; Suspect Edward Herrera Arrested

On Monday, a man was found pinned under a minivan at North Capitol Avenue and Berryessa Road in San Jose, marking the city’s 27th homicide this year. San José Police Department confirmed it was an intentional hit-and-run. Officers arrived at the scene around 5:03 AM and found the man, who was pronounced dead there.

Police identified the suspect as Edward Herrera, a 40-year-old San José resident, who knew the victim. Herrera was arrested the same day and is held at Santa Clara County Main Jail on murder charges.

The investigation continues as authorities work to identify the victim and notify their family.
