Santa Rosa Park Outing Disrupted by Suspected DUI Collision, Community Detains Driver

A Place to Play Park in Santa Rosa was the scene of a disturbing incident when a drunk driver crashed into four parked cars with occupants inside. The

Santa Rosa Police Department

reported that this incident occurred yesterday afternoon, impacting approximately 200 people at the park, including many children attending soccer practices, who suddenly found themselves confronted with the perilous results of reckless driving.

The driver, identified as 19-year-old Angel Uribe, was allegedly driving under the influence when he lost control of his vehicle and collided with the parked cars. Uribe had a prior DUI conviction from 2023 and was out on bail for another DUI charge. Despite legal restrictions prohibiting him from driving or consuming alcohol, Uribe once again chose to disregard these conditions and attempted to flee the scene after the crash.

However, his attempt to escape was thwarted by bystanders who apprehended him before the Santa Rosa Police arrived. “The male driver of the Lexus attempted to flee the scene by running to a nearby trail. Multiple bystanders began running after the man and were able to physically detain him until SRPD arrival,” stated the

Santa Rosa Police Department

in their report.

Uribe now faces multiple charges, including causing injury, hit-and-run, and driving with a suspended license. His bail has been set at $500,000, reflecting the gravity of the charges against him.
