Santa Rosa Police Nab Suspect in Property Crimes Spree Following Community Tips, Two Sebastopol Residences Raided

In Santa Rosa’s battle against crime, community involvement has once again been crucial, resulting in a notable bust. The Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) recently shared on social media that investigators were able to identify a suspect with a history of property crimes thanks to neighborhood tips. The person in question: Shan Titman, a local homeless man of 46, was linked to several crimes, including one that involved car theft.

The Property Crimes Investigation Team (PCI) of the SRPD followed up on leads and conducted surveillance, ultimately identifying two homes in Sebastopol that Titman was reportedly using to stash stolen goods. Following a careful evaluation by a Sonoma County Superior Court judge, the search warrants required to thoroughly investigate these leads were acquired. After a traffic stop yesterday led to the finding of methamphetamine and a cache of illicit firearms, including a short-barreled assault rifle, in Titman’s hands, SRPD officers took him into custody.

Titman’s capture was not the end of the probe. Detectives discovered evidence linking the location to multiple other Santa Rosa burglaries at one of the homes on Lupine Lane. There, Daniel Tucker, 46, was found in possession of a shotgun with a short barrel. Both males, who have lived in similar places in the past, are currently being charged with illegal firearm possession and property theft.

Among Tucker’s allegations are being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm (29800(a)(1) PC) and possessing a short-barreled shotgun (33215 PC). Titman faces more serious allegations, which are already tainted by earlier trials. They include possession of an assault weapon, a controlled narcotic, and many counts of burglary and grand theft. According to the most recent information, Titman’s release was revoked by the presiding court today after a substantial bail augmentation of $250,000 was granted against him.
