School Bus Carrying 30 Children Overturns in Washtenaw County, Seven Injured in Afternoon Collision

AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (DDN)According to authorities, seven individuals were injured, including children, when a school bus carrying approximately 30 children collided Thursday afternoon in Washtenaw County.

The collision occurred around 4:13 p.m. in the 9700 block of Talladay Road in Augusta Township.

According to Michigan State Police, the Lincoln Elementary School bus slipped on ice, leading the driver to lose control and overturn. The Augusta Township Fire Department reports that all of the children on the bus have been removed.

A Huron Valley Ambulance representative said seven individuals were hurt, including the driver. Four children were brought to the hospital with minor injuries.

According to authorities, the motorist was transported to the hospital due to lower back pain.

Lincoln Consolidated Schools posted the following message on social media early Thursday:

“We are relieved to report that there are no major injuries; only minor injuries have been noted at this time. All students were safely evacuated to a second bus and will be delivered home once emergency personnel have completed their evaluations.

“We appreciate your understanding and patience as we prioritized the safety and well-being of our students before sending this communication. Thank you.”
