The vehicle was discovered first, left unoccupied after the torrential downpour that brought approximately 2 inches of rain to regions of Medina County.

The original distress call was made around 9 p.m., directed to Medina County dispatch, wherein the driver explained they were caught and their vehicle carried off the road by the swelling waters, this emergency was, according to KSAT, the impetus of the eventual search that began in earnest Tuesday morning near the Park Road 37 area however the authorities faced difficulties with the intense storm conditions and the nocturnal hour that obscured the landscape. Media statements relay that the vehicle was located by officials, but the driver was missing from inside, prompting intensive search efforts. Family members have been notified about the driver’s passing, the sheriff’s office indicated.

In a separate account from KTSA, it was revealed that the vehicle was found roughly 1.5 miles from the site where the distress call originated before 9:30 p.m. on Monday night; though it was soon found, the driver was not inside.
