The 2025–2026 Biennial Budget was approved by the Seattle City Council, with a strong focus on human services, affordable housing, and public safety. The construction of North Seattle’s first community safety hub and investments in more CCTV cameras along Aurora Avenue North are further measures taken to ensure the safety of District 5 residents. According to the Seattle City Council, the plan to enact a “local 2% capital gains excise tax” in order to raise additional funds was resisted, and the measure was guaranteed to be reviewed in early 2025.
