Second driver dead in wrong-way crash on Detroit’s Lodge Freeway, police say

(CBS DETROIT)The woman, 27, died after allegedly colliding head-on with another car in a wrong-way collision on Lodge Freeway on Friday morning.

The woman passed away Saturday afternoon, according to the Michigan State Police.

The collision occurred close to Grand River Avenue at approximately 4:30 in the morning.

Authorities report that after receiving calls of a wrong-way driver operating a Jeep northbound in the southbound lanes, the Detroit Regional Communication Center received reports of a collision.

According to the police, troopers discovered that the Jeep had struck an SUV head-on. The SUV’s driver, a 34-year-old male from Detroit, passed away on the spot.

They took the woman to the hospital.

Investigators are trying to determine the woman’s origin and point of entry into the road.
