EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.(DDN) – According to the Colorado State Patrol, a car became involved in a collision with a train on Monday afternoon in the Security-Widefield area.

A woman from Colorado Springs, Colorado, who was 26 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene when her automobile collided with a moving train in the vicinity of Main Street and Highway 85-87, which is located just east of Interstate 25.

When the motorist collided with two of the rail cars, the crossing arms were lowered, and the train was at least partially embedded in the junction, according to the troopers.

The train did not come to a halt, and the Patrol stated that they were unsure whether or not the train conductor was aware that the train had collided with an automobile.
