A collision that occurred on Sunday morning on the 5 Freeway in Los Angeles involved a semi-truck that went into the water nearby. As a result of the accident, many lanes of the highway were closed.
At around three minutes before three o’clock in the morning on Sunday, December 29th, the collision took place on the 5 Freeway in Castaic, California, south of the Parker Road exit.
It was reported by KTLA that the tractor-trailer went off the route, slammed through a guardrail, and then landed in a shallow river that was located next to the road.
The accident resulted in a spill of petrol, which led to the truck driver being taken to the hospital. There has been no public disclosure regarding the severity of the driver’s injuries.
As part of the investigation and cleanup efforts following the incident, multiple lanes of the freeway were closed on Friday.
“[The waterway] basically will drain into the ocean, so we are going to control that spillage and make sure and make sure that there isn’t any fuel that goes into the waterway as we extract the vehicle,” said Vincent Mendez of Freeway Towing Company, who assisted in clearing the debris. Mendez was one of the individuals who helped clear the wreckage.
There has been no additional information made public regarding the wreck.
