Series of Morning Crashes on I-80 Near Parleys Canyon Cause Delays, Utah Drivers Urged to Be Cautious

Early morning commuters on Interstate 80 near Parleys Canyon were met with significant delays after four separate crashes occurred within a short span. The Utah Highway Patrol officials were dispatched to the scene near milepost 131, roughly two and a half miles east of the Parleys Canyon entrance to address the collisions. The series of accidents began with a single-car crash, with the driver reportedly escaping without any severe harm, as noted by Fox13.

Following the initial incident, a rollover crash added to the chaos, resulting in a vehicle resting on its side. The driver of that car was transported to the hospital sporting minor injuries. Too quickly to adequately prepare, drivers found themselves ensnared in the gridlock, leading to another fender bender, which, fortunately, did not result in any injuries, as reported by KSL.

Given the abrupt convergence of events, Utah Highway Patrol has since urged drivers to exercise increased caution when navigating this stretch of eastbound I-80. The suggestion seems to be a plea for preventive vigilance, hoping to eschew further incidents amidst already perturbed morning routines. In the wake of the accidents, the Utah Department of Transportation’s traffic cameras captured the gradual return to normalcy, documenting the easing congestion after a lane closure at milepost 131 was lifted, as detailed by KSLTV.

By approximately 8:30 a.m., the obstructions had been cleared, and traffic flow resumed its typical pace. Responding officers have persistently requested that drivers proceed with added care, especially in areas prone to back-ups and as they encounter any emergency vehicles and personnel attending to such incidents.
