Seven Kids, Two Adults Escape With Minimal Injuries in I-75 Van Flipping Incident

DDN – A van containing numerous children flipped multiple times during a crash on I-75 on Friday. Around 11:40 a.m., Montgomery County deputies were dispatched to I-75 southbound near Needmore Road for an injury crash.

A box truck driven by an 82-year-old man attempted to merge into the contraflow lane from the center lane when it collided with the back of a nine-passenger van, according to a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson.

The van slid sideways, colliding with the wall that separates the contraflow lane from the other two lanes and flipping many times.

While flipping, the van collided with the back of a Toyota Carolla.

The sheriff’s office reported that the van contained seven youngsters and two adults.

All injuries were minimal, and no one in the Toyota was wounded.

The impact shattered and ripped the attenuator at the end of the barrier wall away from the pavement. It was also flung into the right two lanes.

Ohio Department of Transportation crews are attempting to repair the damage.

The lanes were opened at approximately 5:20 p.m.
