After being charged with killing her husband last Friday, a Chesapeake woman was arraigned.
In relation to Christopher Heck’s death, Heather Heck, 46, is charged with one count of second-degree murder and one count of using a firearm.
Due to a report of an injured individual, police were summoned to their residence in the 700 block of Sea Palling Lane in Chesapeake.
Christopher Heck was bleeding on the ground close to the front entrance when the responding officer arrived. The police story in the court files said that he had been shot twice.
Police were informed by Heather Heck that she shot her husband out of concern that he would harm their kids. She added that the kids’ verbal altercation about him being disrespected started it all.
She claimed that Christopher Heck promised to make the kids quiet if they couldn’t be quiet on their own.
After the fight, she claimed to have heard him ascending the stairs while she and the children were in a room upstairs.

Police were informed by Heather Heck that she was afraid he would hurt them but didn’t know what to do. At that moment, she reached for a gun and shot herself from the top of the stairs, emptying the magazine.
The Hecks shared two of the four children living in the house at the time. After being arraigned on Monday morning, Heather Heck is scheduled to make a bond argument on Tuesday.
