SOUTH LOS ANGELES – A 21-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot in his vehicle on Sunday night in South Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
Officers responded to reports of gunfire near the intersection of 25th Street and Maple Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim, who had been struck by multiple gunshots while sitting in his car.
According to investigators, the incident unfolded when an unidentified individual drove up alongside the victim’s vehicle and opened fire. The shooter quickly fled the scene, and as of Monday morning, no arrests have been made.
Emergency responders transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Police have confirmed that the shooting was gang-related, though no additional details about the motive or the suspect’s identity have been released.
Residents in the area reported hearing several gunshots and described the scene as chaotic, with neighbors rushing outside to check on the commotion. One witness, who wished to remain anonymous, said, “It’s heartbreaking to see something like this happen in our community. This is becoming too frequent.”
