A 22-year-old Silver Spring resident, Kalani Ayi Abulfata Ariyibi-Sani, has been taken into custody for drug and firearm possession after a neighbor’s call led police to a suspicious package. The incident, which took place on Thursday, reportedly involved Ariyibi-Sani and two others at the site on Alderton Drive, according to the

The 4th District patrol, upon responding to the alert, checked video surveillance footage that showed individuals, later identified as suspects, using flashlights in a homeowner’s yard. This led to discovering two male suspects and a single female suspect in the yard, aligning with the recorded descriptions. While attempting to apprehend these individuals, one male suspect fled the scene, and Ariyibi-Sani and a female suspect were arrested.

In possession of Ariyibi-Sani was a loaded Sam Diego Privateer 7.62 AR-style pistol concealed under his jacket. A further search revealed over 100 Xanax pills, two digital scales, a quantity of marijuana, and a bottle of Promethazine. Charged with multiple offenses, Ariyibi-Sani was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. The female suspect, found in possession of drugs, also faced charges and was held in the same facility for processing.

The case, as it is still developing, has not yet revealed all its details. The police are continuing their search for the escaped suspect. Information about court dates or further legal action for Ariyibi-Sani has not been shared publicly at the time of this report.
