Slidell resident Darren Phillip Coler, Jr., 35, pleaded guilty to embezzling money from the USPS and was given a six-month prison sentence. The United States Attorney’s Office said the penalty comes after an inquiry into the misappropriation of postal revenue.
Lance M. Africk, a U.S. District Judge, sentenced him to two years of supervised release on November 20 and mandated that he reimburse the entire sum. According to court documents, he was also obliged to pay a $100 mandatory special assessment fee, as reported by the US Attorney’s Office.
