As snow falls across the entirety of Montana, motorists are preparing their vehicles for the anticipated dangerous roadways that are normally associated with winter weather.
For the most part, this winter has been quite mild in terms of snowfall; nevertheless, the blizzard that occurred on Monday brought business right to the doorstep of Mark Ruff, who is a co-owner of J&M Tire.
“A lot of people were proactive and had their winter tires put on about a month ago,” Ruff said to reporters. “However, we still had a few arriving today,” she said. I believe that the storm served as a type of reminder of what is anticipated to occur in the future.
The roads in Billings stayed somewhat dry on Monday, but Ruff is aware that between the storm that is currently occurring and the cold weather anticipated for the remainder of the week, things may change in a short amount of time.
“Now it’s time for the slipping and sliding,” Ruff stated with enthusiasm. It is going to be icy underneath, especially if this continues to fall in the same manner as it has been. To begin, it is going to be difficult, and it is going to be difficult to come to an end.
There were a lot of drivers who were getting their automobiles ready for what was going to happen on Monday, like Dave Voth, who lives in Billings.
“I mean, obviously, today it’s snowing but it’s just wet,” Voth explained to reporters. “But if it keeps up, I’m sure there will be (icy roads) in the next 24 hours.”
On Monday, Voth went to J&M Tire to replace one of his tires on his truck. He did this in an effort to ensure that he would remain safe.
Voth stated, “I had to have a tire replaced,” for some reason. “It’s good to have good tires and good traction when it’s snowing.”
Ruff stated that the focus was less on switching to winter tires and more on going for all-season tires, despite the fact that there were drivers like Voth who were getting ready for more snow.
“They make the all-season stuff so much better now, you know, that it runs in the wintertime as well,” remarked Ruff in response. “I’ve had a couple of winter tire sets today, but the rest are all-season tires.”
Ruff is aware that the most essential thing is that consumers like Voth are paying close attention, despite the fact that this is a bit of a change in comparison to previous years.
“Just make sure you’ve got good tires on your truck or car,” Voth advised the audience. “If you don’t know what you’re doing, come in and see Mark and he’ll help you find what’s necessary.”
