Snowstorm Hits Laurel Highlands 1-3 Inches Per Hour and Coldest Week Since 2015 in Pennsylvania (1)

DDN – What a Sunday it was for the Laurel Highlands in South Central and Eastern Pennsylvania!

Snowfall rates averaged 1-2 inches per hour, with some locations experiencing up to 3 inches per hour. The storm has largely passed, leaving us with a severe cold.

Temperatures will start to drop on Monday, with gusty winds as the Arctic air tightens its grip. Tuesday and Wednesday will bring the coldest temperatures, with a few mornings falling below zero degrees in most of the state. So, if you haven’t cleared the snow yet, we highly recommend doing so.

Temperatures will not reach 32° until Saturday or Sunday, implying that the snow will remain for the foreseeable future. This is anticipated to be the coldest week of the winter, and the coldest week since February 2015, which was historically cold.

Tuesday morning will be freezing, but Wednesday morning will be the coldest. The Allegheny Mountains will drop to -10°, while the rest of Western Pennsylvania will experience temperatures ranging from -5° to -9°.

Temperatures in Central and Northeast Pennsylvania will average a few degrees below zero. Only SEPA will exceed 0°.

While the winds will be light, gusting to roughly 10 mph, they will feel even colder.
