South Bay taco stands were the target of a coordinated string of robberies overnight, leaving the community in shock and law enforcement on the hunt for the perpetrators. According toFOX LA, police are investigating at least three robberies in the Torrance and Gardena areas. The assaults began near Torrance Boulevard and Denker Avenue in Torrance at 11:42 p.m., where two employees were robbed and left assaulted by three suspects, reported to be between the ages of 20 and 25. Officer Norma Eisenman of the LAPD s Media Relations Division confirmed the suspects fled in a Kia Sol.

In an attack recorded byCBS Los Angeles, one victim was pistol-whipped and taken to the hospital after robbers fired a gunshot into the air before fleeing with his stand s earnings. Within an hour, three other stands experienced similar threats and losses, pointing to a terrifying pattern of violence and theft.

NBC Los Angelesdetailed a timeline of the events, indicating that the thieves, during various assaults, made off with at least $2,000 from two stands. The amount taken during the other incidents remains unconfirmed.

Taco stand workers, as perABC7, described the ordeal as one of terror and violence. “The first thing they did was assault my guy on the grill. They beat him up with the guns. They struck his head and parts of his body,” taco stand owner Alma Rivera recounted. Counting their losses in the aftermath, the community of street vendors, reeling from their ordeals, is resolute in facing the injustice inflicted upon them. Rivera emphasized, “The only thing we do is work honestly. We are street vendors and we work honestly to make our money.” Rivera added, ” We don’t deserve to get robbed and beat up like that.”
