Southern California man sentenced for 90 years for sexual abuse of a child

A man from Ventura County, aged 41, has been found guilty by a jury of sexual abuse and rape of a child. He is now facing 90 years to life in prison, as announced by authorities on Tuesday.

Jameson Paul Johnson was found guilty of 13 felony charges related to sexual crimes against the victim on March 1, as per a statement from the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office.

According to prosecutors, the abuse began in 2005 when the 41-year-old met the victim at the age of 10. In Ventura County, both transients began abusing the young girl when she was 11 years old, and the abuse lasted for four years.

In 2016, the victim reported the sexual abuse. Johnson, who was in prison at the time, started sending threatening letters to the girl and her mother. Detectives from the Ventura Police Department launched an investigation that led to the arrest of the 41-year-old in 2018.

Out of the 13 felony charges, Johnson was found guilty of six counts of forcible lewd acts on a child, six counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, and one count of forcible rape.

The release mentioned that the jury found special allegations connected to various counts, such as crimes involving great violence, the victim being particularly vulnerable, and Johnson engaging in substantial sexual conduct with the victim.

Supervising Deputy District Attorney Rafael Orellana, who handled the case, expressed gratitude to the jury for their thoughtful deliberations.

He expressed his gratitude to the jury. Even though it took a while for justice to be served for this victim, the verdict shows that it was not denied in the end. Johnson will be accountable for the terrible crimes he committed against the victim. Johnson’s sentencing is set for April 25.
