Speeding BMW Triggers Deadly Orange County Crash, Four Dead after Failed Overtaking Attempt

ORANGE COUNTY, Flo. (DDN) – In a late Saturday crash in Orange County, four individuals lost their lives, and one person sustained serious injuries. According to Florida Highway Patrol troopers, the incident occurred when one car attempted to overtake another.

A crash report from the FHP indicates that a 2024 Toyota Camry was moving east in the outside lane of Central Florida Parkway, ahead of a 2024 BMW M2 also traveling in the same direction, when the incident took place at approximately 10:52 p.m. east of Whitley Place.

A 26-year-old man from Orlando was driving a BMW with a 23-year-old woman as a passenger. They tried to pass a Camry, which was being driven by a 20-year-old man from Kissimmee, who had two passengers: an 18-year-old man from Windermere and another male whose identity is still unknown, according to troopers.

A report indicates that as the BMW tried to move back into the outside lane from the inside lane, its right side collided with the left side of the Camry. This impact caused both vehicles to veer off the road to the right and onto the south shoulder.

According to troopers, the front of the Camry collided with a light pole before continuing south and hitting multiple trees. A man from Windermere, who was sitting in the back of a Camry, was thrown from the vehicle during the accident, as reported by FHP. Authorities think the Windermere man was the sole individual in the crash who did not have a seat belt on.
