St. Louis Man Receives 15-Year Sentence in Plea Deal for Kingsway East Neighborhood Murder

On Friday, a St. Louis County man was handed a 15-year prison sentence after he admitted guilt in a Kingsway East neighborhood homicide from the previous year. John K. Wooten, 26, was convicted of second-degree murder and first-degree assault in connection to a double shooting that happened around 4 p.m. on June 20, 2023. In a plea deal, Wooten’s charge was reduced from first-degree murder, leading to the court’s acceptance of the agreement by St. Louis Circuit Judge Annette Llewellyn.
