Residents and commuters of St. Louis Park are counting down the days until the reopening of Cedar Lake Road. According to an update from Aaron Wiesen, Project Engineer for the City of St. Louis Park, Cedar Lake Road, stretching between Jordan Avenue and Rhode Island Avenue has been firmly off-limits to through traffic due to intense construction efforts by Eureka Construction as part of the 2024 Cedar Lake Road Improvement project.
The city has released a
staging plan and detour route
, urging drivers to adhere to the posted detour signs, indeed, local Westwood Lutheran Church and School plus the Park Spanish Immersion School have specific instructions for access during this period. The Middle School located on Texas Avenue is also affected but can be accessed using a combination of Louisiana Avenue, Wayzata Boulevard (frontage road), and Texas Avenue as detailed in the provided access maps.
Significant progress has been made on the Cedar Lake Road project with the final pavement layer on Middle Stage to East Stage having been completed on November 12. Moreover, this week saw the completion of sod installation and the ongoing installation of street light poles, aiming for operational street lights by the end of next week. “The installation of all the permanent signs and pavement markings to be completed by the end of next week,”

Further to these developments, the signal system at Texas Avenue is expected to be completed by the end of this week. The contractor will also focus on the cleanup of the site and removal of equipment/materials over the next two weeks.
