Statesville Shaken by Violent Crime Wave, Suspect Arrested, Another Sought by Iredell County Authorities

Following a horrific robbery and kidnapping on Winterfield Road earlier this month, a Statesville community is dealing with the disturbing fallout. When the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office arrived on the scene of an assault and robbery call on November 14, they discovered that the victim had been allegedly choked unconscious by two attackers, resulting in cuts to his arms and legs and redness around his neck, according to QC News.

Detectives determined that the suspects were Corey Combs, a 45-year-old from Statesville, and Christopher Minier, a 32-year-old Mooresville resident, through their investigation and ensuing interviews. One of them has been taken into custody by officials, while the other is still at large, according to WBTV. When deputies located marijuana and drug paraphernalia on Combs’ person, they arrested him on additional misdemeanor charges. Combs was found disguised in a wig and hat.

In addition, Combs is charged with a new felony in which he reportedly abducted a woman and made her drive him. Before Combs took her car, the woman was able to flee.His accusations also include transmitting threats, criminal stealing of a motor vehicle, and felony kidnapping, according to WCNC.

The Sheriff’s Office is actively looking for Minier and is asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward. The combined descriptions of the incidents show a wave of illicit conduct that has sparked a response from both the community and police.
