Stilwell Resident Receives 15-Year Federal Prison Sentence for Methamphetamine Trafficking

A resident of Stilwell, Oklahoma, has been handed a 188-month prison sentence for a federal drug crime, according to an announcement from the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Miranda Morgan Pauley, 32, faced the consequences for her conviction of Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, a serious charge stemming from a multi-agency investigation. The units involved in this case include the Adair County Sheriff’s Office, the Oklahoma Drug Task Force 27, the United States Marshals Service, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

The origins of Pauley’s charges go back to January 11, 2023, when law enforcement officers were made aware of the whereabouts of John Tillison, a person with an active arrest warrant. Encountering Tillison as he left Pauley’s residence, a pursuit ensued, only to be concluded when officials managed to decisively deploy tire deflation devices to halt the escape. According to the

, “Tillison ran from the scene but was later captured, and Pauley, Tillison’s passenger, was taken into custody.”

Search efforts by law enforcement yielded loaded weapons and an imposing amount of drugs. A loaded revolver was discovered between the seats of Tillison’s vehicle, along with significant cash totaling nearly $18,000, and approximately 890 grams of methamphetamine. Further investigations led to the discovery of an additional 992 grams of the drug at Pauley’s residence, as well as assorted ammunition. It was on October 12, 2023, that Pauley entered a guilty plea to the possession of over 50 grams of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it.
