DDN: A child who was 14 years old was taken into custody on Wednesday, according to the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office, after he was accused of bringing a firearm to Apalachee High School.
This is the same Georgia school that was the site of a mass shooting in September, which resulted in the deaths of students and instructors.
The student was taken into custody by school resource police without any difficulties occurring at approximately 2:02 p.m.
“The student was cooperative and compliant when encountered by law enforcement officers, and there have been no reports of the student threatening anyone with the gun,” the sheriff’s office stated.
After that, the young child, who was not identified owing to his age, was sent to a facility that is dedicated to the imprisonment of juveniles.
A charge of stealing, as well as charges of being a minor in possession of a firearm and possessing a weapon on school grounds, were brought against the little kid.
The authorities did not disclose the sort of firearm that was taken into custody or the manner in which the child obtained the firearm.
As a result of the event, the Barrow County School System decided to cancel the courses that were scheduled to take place at the high school on Thursday.
Additionally, they held a conference to explore the various alternatives for immediate safety enhancements.
“We understand this brings up many different feelings in each of us,” the school system stated “We will update you all following the board meeting tomorrow with any changes regarding school procedures.”
It is believed that on September 4, a student named Colt Gray, who was just 14 years old, opened fire at Apalachee High School, resulting in the deaths of two teachers and two students.
In addition to kids Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, both of whom were 14 years old, teachers Richard Aspinwall, 39, and Cristina Irimie, 53, tragically lost their lives.

As an adult, Gray has been indicted on 55 counts, including 25 counts of serious assault.
These charges were brought against him. He has entered a plea of not guilty, and if he is found guilty, he may face a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of release or life in prison with the possibility of parole.
His father, Colin Gray, who was arrested and charged with purchasing the semiautomatic AR-15-style gun that was used in the killing and giving it to Colt for Christmas, is facing 29 counts, including two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of involuntary manslaughter. Colt was killed in the incident. Also, he has entered a plea of not guilty.
There are 42 states in the United States that hold parents criminally accountable for their children, and Georgia is one of those places.
