We used Saturday Night Science to examine factors such as expensive homes, high incomes, and highly educated populations in different cities in Washington. These are the things you would debate with a friend during a foodie dinner to determine who is more snobbish.
We have analyzed 121 of the most populated areas in Washington state, each with a population of over 5,000 people. Based on our analysis, we have ranked the top ten snobbiest places in the state. The people in these places in Washington, D.C. are not snobby, they simply have confidence in their abilities.

Method to Determined the Snobbiest Cities in Washington
Do you think we just randomly came up with this list? No way – we only use Saturday Night Science here.
We collected a list of all the locations in Washington that have a population of 5,000 people or higher. We ended up with a total of 121 places. Then, we examined each location based on these fancy criteria (And no, it’s not a real word). Person who thinks they are better than others because they speak English.):
- Median home price (Higher is snobbier)
- Median household income (Higher is snobbier)
- Percent of population with a college degree (Higher is snobbier)
The American Community Survey provides information on incomes and levels of college education. Zillow provides information about home prices. This simple criteria turned out to be much more effective at identifying snobby places compared to other snobby criteria such as:
- Libaries per capita (Higher is snobbier)
- Museums per capita (Higher is snobbier)
- Private schools per capita (Higher is snobbier)
We assigned scores from one to 121 to rank each of our 121 places in each category. We calculated the average ranking for each place to determine an overall score. The place with the lowest score was considered the snobbiest place in Washington. Let’s all flip a table to show our support for Mercer Island (with our pinkies up, of course).
