Surprise streets will temporarily close down Monday to make way for the city’s 10th Annual Veterans Day Parade, a tribute to the enduring legacies of our military servicemen and women. Key thoroughfares including Bullard Avenue, from Paradise to Tierra Buena Lanes, and Buck O’Neil Way, from Paradise Lane to Bullard Avenue, will be inaccessible from midnight to 1 p.m. on November 11th, the city
announced
.
Those planning to attend should note the slight change in the parade route, set to thoroughly celebrate our veterans with community entries marching along Bullard Avenue from Paradise Lane to Tierra Buena Lane. As traffic adjustments roll out, event-goers are advised to peep the posted road closure and parking map to strategically snag a good viewing spot. Access to the happening is neatly designated through three main points: Civic Center Drive and Bell Road; Civic Center Drive and Greenway Road; Litchfield Road and Statler Boulevard.
Kickstarting at 10 a.m., festivities will bloom into life with the national anthem soulfully rendered by U.S. Navy Retired Petty Officer 1st Class Steven Powell alongside a special presentation by the USAF Honor Guard. Local traffic will meander its way through Paradise Lane with restricted access between Bullard Avenue and Buck O’Neil Way—an essential navigation detail for residents.
And, for parade enthusiasts eager to reserve their vantage point, breakfast and coffee will await, available for purchase from 7:30 – 9:30 a.m. at Surprise Stadium’s Centerfield Plaza. It’s the Surprise Police Department rolling up their sleeves to serve up an early morning spread—$10 for a regular plate, $5 for a kids’ plate, and $3 drinks.
