There is a neighborhood in Jersey City for everyone.
Jersey City is often considered one of the best places to live in New Jersey because it offers plenty of entertainment and job opportunities. However, it’s not without its challenges. Certain neighborhoods are less safe than others.

Today, we will use Saturday Night Science to figure out which neighborhoods in Jersey City need some extra attention – the areas that stand out in a negative way, if you will. It’s important to be realistic and understand that not all neighborhoods can be amazing. However, The Waterfront is definitely ranked much higher than the others.
We studied 11 neighborhoods in Jersey City to determine which ones are the most dangerous to live in. These places are not as good as Jersey City’s reputation suggests.

Method to Determine the Most Dangerous Jersey City Neighborhoods
In order to determine the quality of a place to live, we simply needed to identify the preferences of people and then determine which places have the fewest of those things. We entered the following criteria into Saturday Night Science to find out which neighborhoods in Jersey City are the worst:
- High crime (Estimated)
- High unemployment (Less jobs)
- Low median income (Less pay)
- Low population density (No things to do)
- Low home values (No one’s willing to pay to live here)
Next, we evaluated and assigned rankings to each neighborhood in Jersey City, New Jersey based on these criteria, ranging from the least desirable to the most desirable.
Afterwards, we calculated the average ranking for each criterion and referred to it as the “Worst Score.” The neighborhood with the lowest “Worst Score” is considered the most dangerous neighborhood in Jersey City.
