Suspect Arrested for Series of Non-Fatal Stabbings in San Lorenzo, Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Seeks Community Assistance

A suspect in a string of stabbings that occurred in San Lorenzo on Wednesday night has been taken into custody, according to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office. The first incident was reported at approximately 6:20 p.m. on the 15000 block of Via Nueva, and it was immediately followed by another at the junction of Grant Avenue and Via Nueva, according to information made public by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office. A nearby hospital treated both victims for non-life-threatening wounds.

Deputies from the Eden Township Substation searched the neighborhood after the stabbing occurrences, but they were unable to find the perpetrator right away. Nevertheless, the detectives assigned to the case worked quickly, and yesterday, around the same time of day as the stabbings, they were able to apprehend the culprit. The Sheriff’s office has withheld additional information about the suspect since the investigation is still ongoing.

Authorities invite people who have surveillance cameras to look through their recordings for any leads as part of their investigation. The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office said, “This is still an active investigation, and investigators are seeking any additional information or evidence related to this case,” and urged anyone with information to come forward. Residents can call 510.667.7721, the Sheriff’s non-emergency number.
